Heartbeat concert at Hwa Chong Institute

The Heartbeat concert was a success! We also had a glimpse of the different form of dance that were put up by the schools. I must say they were fantastic! hee! I think we were the only professional team (oldest) there. Make up was done by Sharmila! I still can't accept my look in stage makeup though..kinda scary! haha!

I had lotsa fun, and I'm sure the rest would agree with me too! Hehe! Here are some of the backstage pics taken from the second day of the concert! EnjoY!

Generosity of Spirit

This is an article from DailyOm I want to share because I feel that at some point of time, we experience this.

After reading this article, I also came to realize that someone was in this mode of jealousy when my friends and I were leisurely discussing about the competition just a few days ago. She was bringing out all the bad points of others or putting them down even when there was a significant improvement in their techniques amongst other stuff.

I guess its not easy at times, but we must all learn to be generous and be happy for others. We will then be happy.

Just in case, you were just focusing on my blog, the top left hand corner is an update of DailyOm's articles. =P Happy reading!

Generosity of Spirit
Being Happy for Others

We all want to be the kind of people who are happy for others when they experience success or a cause for celebration in their lives, but it isn’t always easy. Sometimes powerful, dark feelings come up at times when decorum dictates that we should be feeling the opposite. Instead of reaching out and celebrating for our loved one, we may feel the rising up of our own pain. This pain may arise because we feel jealous of our friend for having something we don’t have. It may arise because our friend’s success will lead to us losing them in some way. And it may arise for reasons we don’t yet understand. The important thing is not to brush it under the rug, but to take it seriously and look at it; suppressing it will only make it worse. At the same time, we need to be sure to find a way to congratulate our friends and celebrate their successes as if they were our own.

The struggle with being happy for others presents itself early in life. If a child wants a toy and another child has it, the child will try to get it or will break down in tears. Those primal feelings are still present in most of us, and we have to acknowledge them when they arise. At the same time, it is when we care enough for someone to let go of what we want for ourselves that we grow as people. It can be a difficult dance to find ourselves suspended between wanting the toy and throwing a party for our friend who got the toy. Yet, it is in throwing the party that we share in the joy—and, to some extent, the toy—rather than cutting ourselves out of it.
Extending ourselves to celebrate the happiness of others requires a generosity of spirit that we sometimes find only in the process of doing it.
So when your best friend moves to Spain with the person you had a crush on, tend to your broken heart but throw them a going away party too.

Asia Global Bellydance Competition 2009

This year's competition was especially great. The reason is really just because more dancers/students from different schools are coming out to participate in this competition! I personally feel that only in this way, the competition will be more exciting and one (in a participant POV) will improve his/her standard.

I'm sure there are lots more dancers in Singapore who have the strength and capability to participate in this competition. I hope that next year, they'll decide to do so. =)

It was also an eye opener in the troupe segment. I have seen groups improving tremendously over the years and am really happy for them!!! =)

It is also heartening to see that the competition is getting more and more successful each year, and I hope SSF will continue to support this competition year after year! It will definitely encourage more dancers to step up and participate!

Here's 2 video clips from the Taiwan participants. Enjoy!

I super love this troupe can?!!!!! =p They are so synchronized! Dance moves. costume, figure, hairstyle..all the SAME!!!

Efforts are paid off

Results were released in the late afternoon. Got an SMS from Cynthia as I was about to leave for dance class. Thankfully, I received the SMS before I left house, otherwise I'd be frantically thinking about it till I reach home. hee!

Those whom I spoke to seemed rather pleased with their results! In a way, there was an improvement in their grades/GPA. It was the same for me. =) Although I think that I could have done better in certain modules, am glad the GPA was up to my expectations.

My GPA was up a teeny weeny little bit! Although with this minute improvement, I have become more motivated to work harder for my remaining 2 semesters! muahahahaha! I must say this cohort is a strong one.

Gambatte ne!!!!!

See....stressed is desserts spelled backwards! They complement each other really well, which also brings my thoughts to the idiom, "What you reap is what you sow".
